Firearm Incident Information

At approximately 9:20 a.m. today, two students alerted Mr. Fritschy that they had observed a man at a nearby residence to Kate Andrews High School who was carrying what they believed to be a rifle. Mr. Fritschy immediately alerted the School Resource Officer and the Coaldale R.C.M.P. of the situation, who responded to the scene.  While awaiting the arrival of both the School Resource Officer and the R.C.M.P., Mr. Fritschy observed the individual, from his office as he entered that residence. 

The R.C.M.P. and the School Resource Officer responded immediately and the individual was arrested with what was later identified as a pellet gun, which was seized by police.  The individual resides at a house near Kate Andrews High School and it was determined by R.C.M.P. that at no time was there ever a threat to the school or to any students.  The police investigation remains ongoing.
